“This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses…”

Ezra 7:6(a)

The Ministry of Clerks

The Church Clerk is the “pen” of the church, serving as the Fellowship’s primary source of written communication, record keeping, and publishing. Through either printed or electronic means, the Ministry of Clerks is the central point of communication within the Fellowship.  This vital position keeps members informed and connected. It also provides an important avenue for fostering continued linkage and encouragement for guests and visitors of our church.

The ministry is founded in the Old Testament office of the “scribe” (2 Samuel 8:17). In the New Testament it is also referred to as the “town clerk” in Acts 19:35-41. The Church Clerk and is the chief scribe, historian, and keeper of administrative records for the Fellowship. Scribe comes from the Greek word “gramma”, denotes a person of letters and teacher of the law. Scribes were found originally among the priests (2 Chronicles 34:13) who were the official interpreters of the law. They worked in the courts, the Kings’ palaces and occupied themselves with sacred, historical, judicial and didactic literary writings. Scribes were respected officers, recording and keeping accurate records of events and procedures.

The Clerks Ministry includes these positions:
